Southern Philippines Power Corporation (“SPPC”) is a partnership among AEV, Conal Holdings Corporation (CHC), and Tomen Power Singapore (TPS), incorporated in 1996 to implement the Energy Conversion Agreement (“ECA”) with National Power Corporation (“NPC”) covering the General Santos 55 MW Bunker-C Fired Power Station. Under the ECA which has an 18-year term running all the way up to May 2016, SPPC converts fuel supplied by NPC into electricity for exclusive delivery to the Mindanao Grid.


Located in Alabel, Sarangani which is just outside Gen. Santos City, the SPPC power station is equipped with 5 units of Wärtsilä 18V38 diesel generating sets each with a net capacity of 10 megaWatts and one unit of Wärtsilä 18V32 with a net capacity of 6.4 megaWatts. Aside from providing much needed capacity to the Southwestern Mindanao Area, SPPC also performs the role of voltage regulator for Gen. Santos City ensuring the availability, reliability, and quality of power supply in the area. The SPPC power station is among the most efficient diesel plants in the country, continuously meeting its performance guarantees to NPC.
